Case Scenario

Case No.42 (Alec Johnson: 02/18/1954, Male)

Presenting complaint: “got the shakes” in one of his hands

Mr. Johnson, a 62 year old farmer, resides in a quaint town where he has lived and worked his entire life. He’s an active man, spending his days working in the field and nights enmeshing himself in his close knit community. However, recently he’s been feeling slow and heavy, his body not quite moving the way it used to.

At first he dismisses these worries as simple symptoms of age. However he’s bothered by a seemingly uncontrollable tremor in his right hand that has become increasingly prevalent over the last 6 months, especially when sitting still.

As the weeks passed, Mr. Johnson felt a growing sense of slowness, stiffness and fatigue making him feel like a stranger to his own body. It wasn’t until the day Mr. Johnson suddenly lost his balance and fell down the stairs, he’s been walking down for 30 years, that he finally decided to see the town doctor.
